Making Thursday: The Mummy

The mummy began walking
across the table, wrapped
in strips torn from an
old pillowcase, covered
with layers of white acrylic
and raw sienna ink, he
made his way slowly,
grudgingly moving
his century old joints...

Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween!!

A Walk at the Bird Park

A walk at the bird park
I lost count of the times
we visited this place, one
of our favorite spots
it is ever changing
each time a different
recollection.

This trip a trail through
the Autumn leaves, a
pair of dungeness crabs
by the rocks, not one
but two shots of some
mom used to have them
in her garden, soft and
pretty petals. An empty
mussel shell and a sea urchin,
they smell fishy,
and clouds dissipating
clearing away for that
blue blue sky.

A Window Sunset

A sunset captured through
the window, bright colors
filled the sky as the setting sun
disappeared into the horizon. The
fog did not weaken the colors
I had to capture the light
shining through the pattern
on the glass. Tomorrow
a weekend I have been
looking forward to.

May you have a lovely weekend filled with sun rays!

A Mushroom Pair

I don't think I have paid
as much attention as I have
on mushrooms and fungus
growth alike. The lack of
water for over a month
and then pouring rain
continuing for some days
brought out an abundance
of growth from all corners
of the woods. I like
the red trim of the first
mushroom, it reminded me
of an apple. The little branches
sprouting of the ground was
so tiny I nearly missed them, like
mini fingers they reached out.

What have you noticed in the woods lately?

The Most Recent Treasures

On the hunt for the most
recent treasures had me searching
high and low to add
to the collection. Nothing
mundane it has
to be absolutely
unique in shape
and color, anything falling
short will be left behind.

I saw the clump of tiny
pine cones while on
the lookout for mushrooms,
less than an inch in height
I could not resist their
compact size. A strange furry
pod with four sections
was picked up on
a hasty walk and leaves
chosen simply for their
vibrancy. Have you
been out for a walk today?

A Sunny Walk

The fog has persisted
for more than a
few days now,
what was once
clear blue skies
contrasting against
yellow orange
Fall colors was
just a thought

A Foggy Walk

Out in the neighbourhood
all was foggy that
morning, under the soft
cloak everything seemed
so calm, colors more
subtle than usual
blurring into the distance.

A Day Out with Mushrooms

A day out with mushrooms!
The rain had brought out
all kinds of growth from
the ground, the parks and
forests we frequent are
full of them, hiding in
plain sight amongst
grass blades, bark chips,
moss patches and old trunks.
The last picture a triplet of turkey tails.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

A Day Out

A day out with visitors from
out of town. Deep Cove was
a popular request, then off to
Richmond we went. Dramatic
clouds captured along the
way, softer puffs as we neared
Yaohan Centre for a good durian.
The last time I had durian was
more than 15 years ago. Then
to the park across the hotel.
Geese and... bunnies!!!
There was more than
one, ears were flopping,
noses were twitching.
The last photo the usual
suspect... flowers, I cannot
resist noticing them.
And a bee.
