The Scent of Lavender

The scent of lavender was what we sometimes
notice during our evening walks for the past few
weeks. On some days it was so strong we simply
had to stop and take a few moments to delight in
its aroma. It has been so very lovely to be able to
enjoy this late summer perfume until last week...
when we strolled by to find most of the lavender had
been trimmed... Alas! No more fragrance for us.

But a quick observation revealed some flowers
had been left behind. Hastily I gathered all that I
could, the light was getting dimmer by the second as
the sun began to set. And... in just a few moments
there was enough stems for a small bouquet with
plenty of blooms to fill a small potpourri sachet.

The buds now sit at the corner of my studio
table, its delightful savor accompanied me
when I made this little purse.

A Polka Dot Purse

A polka dot purse was something I have always
wanted for myself. Last week, a brief visit to the
local fabric store led to the discovery of a metal
zipper. It hung there out of place, the only brass
colored zipper amongst all the plastic ones, its
seafoam fabric caught my eye, I just thought
the pale shade of blue was so very pretty...

Further wander through the store later resulted in
the finding and purchase of some polka dot linen...
Over the next couple of days, some planning and
coordinating, not to mention some cutting of fabric.
A combined effort by the sewing machine and hand
stitching led to my very own pink polka dot purse!

It measures 5.5" x 3.75", has two separate sections
and is big enough to hold some coins, couple of bills,
house keys, even a credit card and a bus ticket!!!

The PNE At Night!

We went to the PNE again, this time at night!
The plan was to catch a show but alas dinner took
too long and we arrived too late... so the concert
was full. Blahhh... oh well, I guess there was still
plenty of time to wander around. The fair grounds
looked very different all lit up, we quite enjoyed
the light show. There were lots more people
this time as the wind and rain had stopped.

The last time we visited the PNE at night was
many many moons ago, some pictures from last
week that helped bring back the fond memories...

Rides and Games at The Fair

Despite the cloudy day and the threat of rain, it
was business as usual at The Fair. After visiting
the animals at Farm Country, we continued towards
the rides and games. We watched and listened to the
screams of thrill seekers as they swung about on a
huge pendulum, some attractions sure were colorful.
The historic Haunted Mansion was not as big as I
imagined, though one of the carousels was nicely
decorated with pretty pastels and detailed paintings.

The food stalls were always a popular stop with many
choices and plenty of temptations, we simply could not
leave without those little donuts! And then there were
the games... I managed to get a closeup of some orange
colored fish before our feet called out for home...
